Informal Recycling is an initiative of the Sustainable Cities Club at the New School sponsored by the New York State Pollution Prevention Institute.

How many recyclable materials are sent to landfills?

These items are not only harmful to the environment but could potentially be earning us money by being utilized as raw materials.

We will collect this information by going through the waste bins at the New School and collecting data. The findings will be used to figure out ways we can prevent waste.

Our team members include New School Environmental Policy and Sustainability Management Master's students Ryan Ahern, Devashree Saha, & Laura Merli; Columbia University Master's student Sarah Frazier, our faculty advisor Konstantine Rountos, and of course our dedicated volunteers.
